It is approximately 45 minutes from Mérida and 25 minutes from Progreso.
Its privileged location allows visitors to enjoy peaceful beaches, mangroves, and the shallow waters that characterize this region of the Yucatán coast. It is also close to other destinations such as Sisal, Chelem, and Chicxulub Puerto.
How to get to Chuburna by public transportation?
Getting to Chuburna by public transportation is simple and affordable. If you are in Mérida, the capital of Yucatán, follow these steps to reach this charming fishing port.
1. From Mérida to Progreso
The first step is to travel from Mérida to Progreso.
AutoProgreso buses: Buses depart from the AutoProgreso terminal located in downtown Mérida (Calle 62 between 65 and 67). The trip to Progreso takes approximately 45 minutes.
2. From Progreso to Chuburna
Chuburna combi: In downtown Progreso, you will find shared vans (combis) that regularly depart to Chuburna.
The trip takes approximately 25 minutes. Make sure to ask for the combis that go directly to Chuburna Puerto.
3. Local transportation in Chuburna
Upon arrival in Chuburna, you can take a mototaxi to reach your final destination, such as the beach or a specific accommodation.
Mototaxis are affordable and provide a convenient way to get around the town.
Chuburna Veda Festival, Yucatán
The Festival takes place every year during all weekends in February and March in different ports along the Yucatán coast, including Celestún, Telchac Puerto, Dzilam de Bravo, San Crisanto, Chabihau, San Felipe, Río Lagartos, Las Coloradas, Chelem, Progreso, El Cuyo, Sisal, and Chuburna (February 1 – March 31).
